Mr. Feller..I read your letter to the editor this morning & although it was brief, it was concise & to the point...& necessary! I'm not aware of your history within Camden County & only now have I taken the time to do some research on you before putting "my foot in it." While what I have found is somewhat short, it touts mostly the words that you're over the hill, you're time has come & gone, the usual comments made by those who can't see that history is repeating itself.
I am a child of the 40's & far from dead mentally. I admit to forgetting more than I once did, of wearing a hearing aide & to having had cataract surgery. I will NEVER wear a size 10 again & won't lose sleep over it. But, what I am losing sleep over, as is my husband, is the Obama administration & how quickly he's pushing his agenda through with no regard to the people of this country. I also must share with you that I'm not bi-partisan & have never believed in that type of government. Nor do I believe in the electoral vote but believe that every vote should be counted & should count. Old fashioned perhaps but as I look around me & realize that when some ignorant soul decides to pull the plug of technology & there will be no one left who can read, write or even know what a piece of paper & pencil is about, I fear for all of us. This country is & always has been about the PEOPLE & that's what has always kept us proud & grand. But, we now resort to bowing & scraping to powers of other countries, of taking away the privileges of our seniors & the rights of our people. I'm all for sending a bunch of housewives to Washington who can manage a household budget, clean house & turn this country around. I'm tired of trying keeping up with the Jones's, I just want my country back on track.
I'm venting & apologize for that but I encourage you to keep up the good fight. Be as outspoken as you need to be to get the job done properly & maybe, just maybe, a beginning can be made in the small county of Camden. God knows, it MUST start somewhere!

Sandy,

When the Commissioners say they only collected $48,000 in fee last year, is that all that was owed, and if not how much were they supposed to collect?

No Sandy the fee is not correct. This is what the gov't does to discourge the people from taking action. If they price the the open records high, then people will not ask for them. When I got open records from the Georgia Peace Officers, the total was $21.00. That was for an hour and a half of work and about 400 pages of material. Why are these documents in the possession of former atty's? Why are they not stored at the city?

Now is the time to take control of St. Marys city government . In this election we have many fine candidates to chose from one of which is Sandy Feller . We have a chance to make a difference in the government of our treasured coastal town more than ever before . Pray and vote for Sandy Feller's election to Post 4 Nov 3 .
I just finished reading the candidates views on the issues a voters guide . Tribune and Georgian Weds. October 28th 2009 . Anyone watching Fox News the past several months can not help but notice that our Constitution is under attack with far left liberals surrounding a President who wants to "spread the wealth" a President who surrounds himself with Marxists . The American dollar is about to collapse because of out of control spending on all levels of government . Our Government is spending money backed by nothing ; money printed out of thin air by the Federal Reserve . If this continues we will be in hyper inflation ; for example , a loaf of bread will cost $ 10.00 . Ghost towns , tent cities , and empty strip malls . You can see the beginings of it now here in St. Marys . We have to get control of spending if you don't have it you don't spend it . I was astonished to see that our city council is considering whether to add $ 330,787 roof onto the waterfront park stage using the special service sales tax funds and money donated for a waterfront theater . Have any studies been done to see if such a roof could withstand strong winds ? It has the potential to be a waste of money if not a safety hazard . Even if the reasons to put it into place are sound it is not the heat from the sun it is the sand gnats that drive visitors to distraction . St. Marys is below the gnat line a very good reason not to move here . You can't enjoy the outdoors with such a pest . Money could be better spent on finding a way to control the gnats maybe people would want to visit more often generating funds for a better outdoor arena . Use the funds to purchase a tent that can be stored for covering over the stage . Back to the candidates it looks like some of the candidates do not understand that we are not Atlanta we have 20,000 people in St. Marys so the question is how can we compare ourselves to Atlanta ? Do we want to be Atlanta ? Urban sprawl , nasty traffic jams , higher taxes , 10 degrees hotter because of the asfault and concrete, higher crime rates , is that what we want ??? The reason I say this is that the issue of TADS is clearly not understood by some it is for a blighted area like , say Detroit . We are scruffy not blighted . A TAD could be a tax on us for up to 40 years . Let the developers pay for expenses . Developer welfare in a small community like St. Marys is a sin . On the issue of moving the airport which some seem to think is of supreme importance (never mind the sky rocketing property tax assessments of which 3,000 were appealed) put a 3% cap on it . The issue , in case some of you missed it , is property taxes not the removal of the airport . It appears for all the world that real estate developers want to forge ahead in spite of the facts . Many real estate deals fell through here and the economy is near a depression teetering on the brink of collapse . Keep the airport it is an asset . I can not understand how moving it will bring in industry when there are empty industrial buildings all around the airport . You can not push ahead until the economy recovers to keep pushing for deals that are beyond sound fiscal reality screams a lack of good judgement . How much does it cost and will it benefit all of us not some special interest group . We are done with Tax and Spend . I for one will vote for accountability . VOTE FOR SANDY !

Camden County Tea Party Patriots is an off-shoot division of the Golden Isle Tea Party Patriot movement. Tea Party Patriots from all over the country are organizing against an every expanding government and unnecessary taxation hikes. Camden County's local political issues are really not that different than other areas of the country with regards to oppressive local government, state government and federal government spending, taxation and poor representation. If you are a Camden County, Georgia resident, please join this group. There is power in numbers and we need to affect change. Both political parties are ignoring the will of the people...AND WE WILL BE HEARD!!! Also, we will be aligning ourselves with the Camden Watch Dog group that has built an excellent way to "watch" our local government’s actions. Please go to there web site at www.camdenwatchdog.com to get up to date on local issues. We do not currently have a web site operation at this time, since we are newly formed group…but we will progress.

There are protests that are soon to be organized through the Camden County Tea Party Patriot movement and we invite all of the Camden Watch Dogs to join us in this fight. We have a shared interest in holding government accountable when they raise millage rates and taxes unjustly. We must let them know our displeasure and warn them that if they increase millage rates, they can count on loosing their seats in the next election. THEY WILL LOOSE!!!

*******Below are times for the up coming hearings...please be mindful that the notices that were posted in the Georgia and Tribune have discrepancies in times. This posting is out of the Wed, Oct 7th, 2009 issue. The Oct 9th issue gives a different time. We will call and verify times to make sure they are consistent. This could be a deliberate attempt to confuse the taxpayers about when these meetings are to be held. **************

From the Georgian and Tribune, Oct 7th, 2009 edition:
“All concerned citizens are invited to the three public hearings on the tax increase. The first two hearings will be held at the Camden County Govt Services Building, 200 East 4th St, Woodbine, Ga. The hearings will be held on Thursday, Oct 15th, 2009 at 10AM and the other held at 530PM”…However, in the Oct 9th edition states there will be a hearing on Oct. 22nd, 2009 at 5:30pm.

There will also be a hearing held by the Board of Education on Oct 15th and the 22nd at the Administrative Office of the Camden County Board of Education at 311 South East Street, Kingsland, Ga. Hearing at 1130AM (Room 155) and at 615PM (room 132) on Oct 15th and at 1130AM, Room 132 on Oct 22nd, 2009. “

PROTEST TIMES: There will be two (2) protests we encourage you all to attend.
