Re: Open Records Request
Dear Ms. Roellig:
In response to your correspondence dated Novenber 20, 20o9, please be advised that I do not agree with the fee of $21.96 per hour for research and to be quite excessive.
Per O.C.G.A. §50-18-71(d) the cost for search, renevaI and other direct admiristrative costs “shaIl not exceed the salary of the lowest paid fill-time
employee who, in the discretion of the custodian of the records, has the
necessary skill and training to perform the request..”
” Said code section goes on to outline that there is no charge for the first quarter hour.
Please advise our office as to the salary of the lowest paid full-time employee as outlined hereinabove and proceed to provide the material the cost as authorized.
Sincerely,
James F. Stein

Sandy Sez; clearly under the majority format, the outcome of the recent election would have been  different. The question that is raised, will a closely united minority be able to control the future of the city?  UPDATE;  THE CITY HAS TOLD MR STEIN THAT THE FEE IS CORRECT AND MR STEIN HAS TOLD THE CITY TO PROCEED TO ACCUMULATE THE RECORDS.  KEEP TUNED.  any comments?

No Sandy the fee is not correct. This is what the gov’t does to discourge the people from taking action. If they price the the open records high, then people will not ask for them. When I got open records from the Georgia Peace Officers, the total was $21.00. That was for an hour and a half of work and about 400 pages of material. Why are these documents in the possession of former atty’s? Why are they not stored at the city?
