DON’T JUST BLAME THE ASSESSORS!!

The assessors are not the only culprits in the assessment mess we call “Camden County”.
For years the Camden County Board Of Commissioners staffed and financed the Board Of Assessors in a fashion that benefited the “Good Old Boys” at the expense of the rest of us..
Now that the State and the “Camden Watchdogs” have flushed the problem out (for the public to see). It is time to fix the problem.
We currently have 6000 parcels per appraiser that is too much. The Board of Commissioners refused to hire more. That is the reason that the Board of Assessors brought in an outside appraiser firm. To be effective the ratio must be brought down to 3500 parcels per appraiser.
We must have a full time GIS technician assigned to the Board of Assessors. This will ensure that all parcels are appraised. Thus far the County has rebuffed all attempts to bring staff up to required standards. It is time for that to stop.
Mr. Daniels, while he may be a competent Chief Assessor must acquire the necessary skills to deal with the public, his Board and his staff. In the three years he has been here he has done a lot to uplift the quality of his department. When he acquires the the necessary PR skills he will be a fine administrator.
SANDY SEZ:
If the vital staff additions are not made in the interim I promise when elected to make them my first priority. The citizens of Camden County expect to pay their fair share of taxes, no more, no less. A fully staffed Board of Assessors will facilitate that. Remember, the cost of government is the responsibility of the Board of Commissioners; the sharing of the burden is the responsibility of the Board of Assessors.
