To those of you who have filed (or intend to file) appeals to the Board of Assessors.
The BOA will respond to your appeal (see sample below).
If the response is acceptable that is the end of the matter. If it is not please fill in the following (shown at the bottom of the form). ”This is to advise you that I (we) wish to appeal to the BOE(Bord of Equalization) re value specified by the Board of Assessors on the above property.”
Don’t forget to date and sign the document and send it to BOA by certified mail.
In the future postings we will discuss preparing for the BOE hearing.

If you, the taxpayer, are dissatisfied with such changes or corrections, you, the taxpayer, shall with in 21 days of the date of mailing if this change notice, institute an appeal to the Board of Equalization, by sending a written notice of appeal to the County Board of Assessors. The Board of Assessors shall then send or deliver the notice of appeal and all necessary papers to the Board of Equalization. The Board of Equalization will notify you of the date, time and place your appeal will be heard. If you are satisfied with such changes or corrections please contact our office at the number listed below and notify an appraiser of such. Congratulations, by standing up for your rights you are doing yourself a big favor. We need County hired assessors not contractors. Tell your Senator and State Representative to file a bill to force the County to hire staff members not contractors.
